A Berlin Christmas market was evacuated and two people were detained during the investigation of a “dangerous item.”
Berlin police cleared the Breitscheidplatz Christmas market and detained two individuals who police said were acting suspiciously, according to the Daily Mail. The police ended their search, saying no “dangerous item” was found and the two individuals were released.
The same market was the location of an attack in 2016 when Tunisian national Anis Amri deliberately drove a truck through the market, killing 12 and injuring 56 others. Amri was instructed to commit the attack by Islamic terrorists in the Middle East and was killed four days later in a shootout with police in Milan.
