The AP reports that lawmakers questioned Army officials on Wednesday about confusion over the placement of gravestones at Arlington Cemetery.
“How in the world could this tragedy be allowed to happen?” U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo., asked Army Secretary John McHugh and Army Inspector General Lt. Gen. Steven Whitcomb.
McHugh said 27 of 211 discrepancies between burial maps and grave sites have been worked out since the investigation was released.
“The Army is doing and will continue to do all that is necessary and possible to right these unimaginable, unacceptable wrongs,” McHugh said.
