Colbert to Michelle Obama: Trump ate too many carrots, turned orange

First lady Michelle Obama and CBS’ Stephen Colbert poked fun at Donald Trump’s infamous tan skin tone Tuesday night, claiming it was due to his overconsumption of beta-carotene.

The spokesperson for Let’s Move, a program developed to solve the epidemic of childhood obesity, joined the late night host in a skit. The two were camped out in a living room-style fort, snacking on carrots and raw vegetables.

“Did you know if you eat too many carrots you turn orange?” Colbert told Obama.

“Really?” Obama responded.

“And if you become really orange, you have to start saying crazy things and run for president,” Colbert said, knocking Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Overconsuming carrots or pumpkin can turn the skin orange, though it’s likely not the reason for Trump’s orange-tinted skin tone.

Obama has increasingly been on the campaign trail for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, whom her husband beat out in the 2008 primary. The first lady has also done a number of late night television shows in recent months as her husband’s second term comes to a close in January.
