Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway on Wednesday rejected the idea that she and other newcomers to Trump’s team are behind the turnaround in the polls that Trump has seen in the last few weeks.
She was asked to react to a Wall Street Journal story that said Conway and campaign CEO Stephen Bannon are behind Trump’s transformation into a more steady candidate, but she gave all the credit to Trump.
“I will tell you that it’s all Donald Trump,” said Conway. “The reason I say that is, I walk in Trump Tower every day … and I’m quickly reminded that this man did very well for himself before I got onto the scene.
“I think he just needs an environment created around him that lets him be him and lets him be the him that those of us who are around him and know him see every day. Generous, funny, engaged, getting oxygen from those crowds,” she said.
