President Trump promised he would make a final decision on whether to allow permits to trophy hunt elephants and other big game after delaying the decision last week, but said he’s leaning toward not allowing the permits.
Reports indicated the Interior Department was set to issue permits for hunters to import their big game trophies into the United States, but Trump put the kibosh on that plan on Friday, pending further review. He said he’d make the call soon.
“Big-game trophy decision will be announced next week but will be very hard pressed to change my mind that this horror show in any way helps conservation of Elephants or any other animal,” Trump said.

Trump’s sons are well-known hunters and have been pictured holding various big game they’ve killed in Africa, such as elephants and big cats.
Trump has received praise from many different quarters of the political world for his decision to put a hold on the decision until he could review all information.
