HOUSE FREEDOM CAUCUS PICKS SCOTT PERRY AS NEXT LEADER

“Like so many of our friends and neighbors, Congressman Perry has tested positive for COVID-19. As directed by the House Physician, he will continue working while quarantining at home. His symptoms are quite mild, and he’s looking forward to a full recovery,” Perry’s office said in its statement.

His office said it had no further comment, citing it as a personal health issue.

It is unclear if Perry is vaccinated, but he has made several social media posts against vaccine mandates. He has also posted guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Perry was picked Monday as the chairman of the Freedom Caucus to replace Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, who reached his term limit.

Perry, 59, acknowledged his diagnosis in a Facebook post, saying he is grateful for the support he has received.

“Folks, reaching out to let you know I’ve tested positive for Covid-19 — just some mild symptoms, following doctor’s order while quarantining and working from home,” he said. “Thank you for all the prayers, well wishes and kind words, my family, team and I appreciate you more than I can ever express.”
