Donald Trump admitted Thursday he has thought about getting revenge on speakers at the Democratic National Convention who attacked his campaign.
“I was gonna hit a number of those speakers so hard their heads would spin — they’d never recover,” Trump told attendees at a town hall in Davenport, Iowa, Thursday afternoon. “I was gonna go and talk about each of them.”
The Republican nominee said he took issue with the statements a number of liberal politicians made Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night, politicians who he has had positive experiences with, made deals with and worked alongside.
But Trump only named one specific person from his hometown of Manhattan, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“And I was gonna say de Blasio was the worst mayor in the history of the city. He’s a terrible mayor — probably won’t be there too long ’cause he’s got problems like you won’t believe,” Trump said. “I was gonna talk about other people so viciously ’cause I have so many things to say.”
The billionaire businessman said he had a change of heart after talking through his anger with an unnamed Republican governor. His friend told him not to be bothered by politicians hoping to get their 15 minutes of fame, but to focus his energy on “properly” hitting Clinton in the general election.
Trump cited his previous hits on some of the failed 16 Republican presidential candidates as the reason they have remained quiet and not publicly condemned his campaign despite not supporting him.
