Chelsea Clinton bashes Trump on ‘Late Night’

Chelsea Clinton bashed Donald Trump Wednesday for turning his presidential run into an exercise of attacking people who don’t agree with him.

In an appearance on “Late Night with host Seth Meyers,” Clinton said that while she grew up with constant criticism of her parents, political discourse in the age of Donald Trump has become “deeply troubling.”

“What feels different is that I don’t remember so many Americans being attacked by a presidential nominee,” she said.

She also defended her mother’s run, and said she is “proud” to be Hillary Clinton’s daughter. “You know, I’m very biased towards my mom, I’m deeply proud to be her daughter,” she said.

“I hope that my children are even just an iota as proud of me as I am of my mom,” added the mother of two. “And I do hope that we send a strong as a signal as a country on Nov. 8. I think we’re still just gonna have a lot of work to do Nov. 9 and thereafter to ensure that we’re role modeling for our kids and what civic dialogue and political debate should be in our country.”

Meyers asked the former first daughter what she liked most about living in the White House and what she would want most to share with her children if her parents move back in. Clinton said they would definitely play hide-and-seek, and said one of her best memories was when she played the game with her friends at her 13th birthday party.

“Definitely some people got lost in the secret staircases. So there was that awkward element of fear and excitement when you’re 13 and trying to pretend you’re really cool and not afraid but you’re totally terrified,” said Clinton.
