An Alexandria man was killed when the plane he was flying went down in a fiery crash in Fauquier County.
The single-engine plane crashed in a field near the Warrenton Air Park as it was approaching a landing strip shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday, Virginia State Police said. Police on Thursday identified the pilot as 42-year-old Shannon Beebe. His plane caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames after the crash.
A female passenger was also killed. Police said Thursday that authorities are still identifying her.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
