The deadly knife attack Saturday evening in Paris, in which an assailant killed 29-year-old man and injured four others, is being investigated as a terrorist attack.
The knifeman shouted “Allahu Akhbar” as he wielded a kitchen knife toward pedestrians, according to witnesses, the Associated Press reported.
The Islamic State also claimed responsibility for the attack.
Police attempted to hinder the attacker with a non-lethal Taser, but ended up shooting and killing him as he rushed at three police officers and yelled, “Kill me, or I kill you.”
An official said the man, who was not identified, was born in 1997 in the Russian republic of Chechnya and in the last year had been questioned by counter-terrorism police about his links with Syria.
