Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg should not have publicly criticized presumptive GOP presidential nominee, House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday.
“What about impartial judges here?” said Ryan, R-Wis. “She may very well be involved in adjudicating cases coming from a President Trump.”
Ryan pointed to the 2000 Supreme Court decision that decided the too-close-to-call presidential election as an example of why the justices should be impartial.
“To have a Supreme Court justice make such comments is beyond the pale and was not called for,” he said.
In two interviews, Ginsburg called Trump a “faker” and said she feared a Trump presidency.
On Thursday, Ginsburg said in a statement that she regretted making the comments about Trump.
