Trump attacks Democrats for obstructing Senate confirmation process

President Trump on Monday evening claimed Democrats have engaged in obstruction by not considering or voting on his Cabinet picks.

“The Democrats are delaying my cabinet picks for purely political reasons. They have nothing going but to obstruct. Now have an Obama A.G.,” Trump tweeted.

The end of the statement was in reference to acting Attorney General Sally Yates, the Obama-appointed head of the Justice Department who ordered lawyers not to make legal arguments in defense of President Trump‘s executive order that temporarily suspends immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

Yates will serve until Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions is confirmed, at which point her order will be invalid.

A number of Trump’s nominees have not turned in their financial disclosure forms or submitted them behind schedule, causing confirmation hearings and votes to be delayed.
