Reporter rejects Anthony Scaramucci’s claim that his financial data was leaked

The reporter who wrote about incoming White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci’s financial disclosure form said Thursday that the form was not leaked to her, as Scaramucci alleged, and instead was publicly available.

Lorraine Woellert reported for Politico Wednesday night that Scaramucci’s financial disclosure form indicated he stands to profit from an ownership stake in his investment firm, SkyBridge Capital, while working at the White House. The article said the disclosure form, filed with the Office of Government Ethics when he joined the Export-Import Bank in June, was publicly available upon request.

But after the article was published, Scaramucci tweeted that the financial disclosure had been leaked to Politico, and seemed to accuse White House chief of staff Reince Priebus of leaking the document to the news outlet.

“In light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony. I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJusticeDept #swamp @Reince45,” Scaramucci tweeted, tagging Priebus.

Scaramucci deleted that tweet and then said he only referenced Priebus as a “public notice to leakers that all Sr Admin officials are helping to end illegal leaks.”

Woellert refuted Scaramucci’s accusation that his disclosure form was leaked to her, and said the form was available to anyone who asks for it.

“Wow, sorry I slept through all the fun! FWIW, Mr @Scaramucci‘s Form 278e is publicly available from ExIm. Just ask,” she tweeted early Thursday morning.

“My source for @Scaramucci financials was Ex-Im Bank. Period,” she said in a second tweet.
