Fans had an incredibly lucky escape Friday night when disaster almost struck at the ballpark.
Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Oneil Cruz accidentally let go of his bat while swinging at a pitch against the Philadelphia Phillies, sending the bat flying into the stands.

The young star turned around with a look of concern before video showed the bat being pulled from a seat between two female fans in attendance.
Thankfully, the stadium’s protective netting also slowed down the flying bat.

After the incident, the two spectators were gifted a signed Bryce Harper bat and jersey, according to USA Today.
