CNN’s Jim Acosta on White House media criticism: ‘Does this feel like America?’

CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta on Tuesday asked his followers on Twitter if “this feels like America” after Trump administration’s spokeswoman Sarah Sanders complained about the media at the day’s press briefing.

“Does this feel like America?” Acosta asked his 315,000 followers. “Where the White House takes [questions] from conservatives, then openly trashes the news media in the briefing room.”

At the briefing, which many reporters have complained about for being frequently held off-camera in recent days, Sanders said that President Trump is “frustrated” by the “constant barrage of fake news” about his administration and the federal investigation into whether his 2016 campaign colluded with Russia.

She noted that CNN had to retract a Russia story last week, and told reporters in the room to watch a new undercover video, produced by the conservative sting activist James O’Keefe, showing a producer for the network suggesting that the news media are sensationalizing its coverage of the Russia-collusion story.

Sanders took few questions during the briefing and began by calling on the reporter representing Breitbart News, which has been supportive of Trump.
