The truck that mowed down a Parkville teen stopped only briefly.
The person at the wheel didn?t render medical assistance and didn?t call police, but just drove away.
Now, Baltimore County police are searching for the person who hit Michael Thompson, possibly paralyzing the teenager.
The crash happened April 1 at 8:46 p.m., but a solid description of the truck was obtained only recently, prompting police to release a look-alike photo of the vehicle Monday, said Baltimore County police spokesman Cpl. Mike Hill.
Thompson, 17, of Parkville, was crossing McClean Boulevard at a crosswalk nearPerring Parkway, when he was struck by a large U-Haul truck traveling north, police said.
Witnesses told police the truck stopped for a second, then continued driving.
Crash investigators have determined the driver and others connected with the truck were in the McDonald?s on McClean Boulevard just before Thompson was hit.
The U-Haul truck had a large image of an Illinois aquatic creature called a Tully Monster, police said.
Thompson is in serious condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He may be paralyzed because of his injuries, police said.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-7-LOCKUP. Callers to Metro Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and might be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
