MTG moving on up, while Omar is out: Washington Photos of the Week

Capitol Hill was filled with committee drama this week. The GOP-led House voted to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from the Foreign Affairs Committee for past antisemitic statements.

As Omar lost her post, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) got to work on the powerful House Oversight Committee, which commenced its first hearings to hold the Biden administration accountable. It was a drastic turn from two years ago, when Democrats, including Omar, voted to strip Greene of committee assignments for social media posts endorsing violence.

On the other side of the Capitol, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) lost his spot on the Commerce Committee in what he said was political retribution for unsuccessfully challenging Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for his leadership post.

Here’s a look at scenes from Washington captured by Washington Examiner photographer Graeme Jennings during the week of Jan. 30, 2023.
