Harford: Residents must conserve water

A hot, dry summer and a lack of rain mean Harford County residents need to conserve water.

One-third of the water Americans use daily to irrigate lawns and maintain landscaping, and the county is asking people to take steps to save water.

County officials met with local water companies recently because of concerns that the lack of rain is drying the Winters Run watershed.

The county urges residents to water in the morning to minimize evaporation; water gardens with a handheld hose; turn off faucets when brushing teeth; and sweep sidewalks instead of washing them.
