The mayor of Atlanta says the protests have devolved into anarchy and that residents of her city should go home.
As thousands flooded the streets of Atlanta on the fourth day of nationwide protests following the death of 47-year-old George Floyd, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said the crowds were “disgracing the life of George Floyd” and called for crowds to peacefully disperse.
“‘I am a mother to four black children.’ tweeted WSB-TV reporter Mike Petchenik on Friday night. “@KeishaBottoms says you aren’t going to ‘outconcern me.’ What she sees on the streets of Atlanta is ‘chaos….if you love this city…if you care about this city, then go home.'”

Earlier in the day, crowds gathered outside the CNN headquarters in downtown Atlanta and set a cop car ablaze. Protesters across the country are demanding justice after video released Monday showed Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on the neck of Floyd before he became unresponsive and was later declared dead.
