A fire at the Empower Field at Mile High Stadium caused a massive smoke plume in Denver, Colorado, Thursday afternoon.
The Denver Fire Department said its crew has gotten the fire “under control” and is working to clear up the smoke scene. The stadium was rapidly evacuated as soon as the fire broke out, and there were no reports of injuries as of press time.

“Unknown cause at this time, but fire has affected the suite are and the third level seating area,” the department tweeted. “Fire now under control at Mile High Stadium. Sprinklers attempted to stop the fire, but firefighters were needed to complete extinguishment.”

The stadium first opened in 2001 and has hosted a variety of events, including Denver Broncos games.
The Fire Department announced it would hold a press conference at 3 p.m. MDT to discuss the incident.
