UPS donates nearly $7K to Anchorage shop kitchen

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — An Anchorage soup kitchen has received nearly $7,000 from the United Parcel Service for new kitchen equipment.

Bean’s Cafe says the $6,750 comes from the UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of the UPS.

Bean’s spokesman Ken Miller says the money will be used to buy a commercial food slicer and a commercial tilt skillet.

Miller says the day shelter serves about 800 meals daily between breakfast and lunch.
