The Republican National Committee celebrated the wrong Democratic presidential candidate’s victory in Indiana Tuesday night.
Chairman Reince Priebus released a statement bashing Democrats for giving Hillary Clinton the win in the Hoosier State’s primary.
“Tonight Democrats pushed one of the most scandal-plagued and distrusted candidate in American history closer to the general election. Hillary Clinton’s failed foreign policy record, secret email server that jeopardized our national security and refusal to be transparent and honest with the American people highlights how unfit she is to lead our country as president,” the email said. “It is clear that only a Republican president in the White House will offer the course correction we desperately need.”
The only problem was that the RNC sent the wrong email because Bernie Sanders was the winner of the night despite going into the fight polling lower than the former secretary of state.
The RNC retracted its statement 20 minutes after sending the initial email.
