President Trump urged people to pray for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as Democrats engage in what he called a “con game” in destroying his character with sexual assault allegations.
“The Democrats are playing a high level CON GAME in their vicious effort to destroy a fine person. It is called the politics of destruction. Behind the scene the Dems are laughing,” Trump tweeted. “Pray for Brett Kavanaugh and his family!”

Trump has defended Kavanaugh as women have come forward with sexual assault allegations from more than three decades ago.
First, Christine Blasey Ford went public last week with allegations that Kavanaugh drunkenly groped her at a high school get-together 36 years ago. Kavanaugh denies the allegations and two men and one woman identified as being at the gathering denied having any memory of the party or the alleged incident.
A few days later, Deborah Ramirez accused Kavanaugh of exposing himself to her at a college party at Yale.
Democrats have sought the delay of Kavanaugh’s confirmation until after the 2018 midterm elections. Their hope is to take back a majority in Congress and block the nomination.
Kavanaugh is Trump’s second Supreme Court nominee. Justice Neil Gorsuch was confirmed last year and filled the spot of the late Antonin Scalia, who died shortly before Trump took office.
