VIDEO: Congressional approval in 2014 near all-time low

A new Gallup poll out Monday shows America’s job approval rating for Congress in 2014 is close to an all-time low at 15 percent, just one point above the all-time low of 14 percent in 2013.

The 2014 approval ratings are similar along party lines. Among Democrats and Republicans, the numbers are identical at 15 percent with independents averaging 14 percent.

According to Gallup, the low approval ratings may in part be due to the divided control of Congress, something that will change in January when the GOP assumes control of both the House and Senate.

The all-time high in approval ratings for Congress was 56 percent in 2001.
