One person is dead and at least six others were injured in a Thursday afternoon shooting at an industrial park in Bryan, Texas, according to police.
Bryan Police Chief Eric Buske said one person died at the scene and four people who were critically injured at Kent Moore Cabinets were transported to St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital. Another individual who was in non-critical condition was also taken to a hospital, as well as another person who was suffering an asthma attack.
A suspect, believed to be an employee of Kent Moore Cabinets, is in custody, police said.
KHOU 11 of Houston reported that a Texas Public Safety Department trooper was shot while chasing the suspect.
Lt. Jason James of the Bryan Police Department told CNN the suspect is believed to be the sole perpetrator. James said police are not yet aware of the motive and are looking into the suspect’s connection to Kent Moore.
“We don’t know if he’s an employee or ex-employee. We don’t know his relationship to the business. We’re just trying to piece that part together of why this horrible incident happened,” James said.
