Police across the region are looking for a man they believe has been committing thefts in the D.C. area since November 2009.
The man is a suspect in larceny cases in Alexandria and in Loudoun, Montgomery, Fairfax and Charles counties, according to Alexandria police.
The man takes a wallet from a woman’s purse while she is shopping, then uses her credit cards at stores and restaurants, police said. He may have an accomplice to distract the victim. Police didn’t say how many thefts the man is believed to be linked to.
The suspect is described as a black man with a stocky build who is 35 to 45 years old and 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall. He has a full beard.
