Trump drinks a Diet Coke. Does that make him fat?

Donald Trump might want to walk back a 2012 tweet implying only fat people drink Diet Coke after posting a photo of himself with a Diet Coke bottle on Thursday.

The billionaire mogul celebrated clinching the 1,237 delegates necessary to become the GOP nomination by posting a photo of himself to Instagram eating a McDonald’s Big Mac, fries and a Diet Coke with the caption, “Celebrating 1237! #Trump2016.”

The trouble is, Trump claimed in a 2012 tweet, “I have never seen a thin person drinking Diet Coke.”


The Trump campaign did not respond to a Washington Examiner request for comment.

In February, Trump told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that he is partial to McDonald’s, particularly the fast food chain’s fish sandwiches, Big Macs and Quarter Pounders with cheese. He also said that he deliberately moderates his burger intake.

“I do as well as I can,” Trump told Cooper, saying all burgers introduced into his diet are “very carefully” measured.

On Cinco de Mayo, when he posted a photo of himself on Instagram eating a taco bowl with the caption, “I love Hispanics!”
