Man pleads guilty to shooting policemen at riot after Breonna Taylor’s death

A Kentucky man accused of shooting two police officers in the unrest following the killing of Breonna Taylor pleaded guilty to multiple counts relating to the incident Monday.

Larynzo Johnson pleaded guilty to charges of wanton endangerment and assault, according to the Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.


Johnson was then sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison, according to a report.

The shootings occurred in Louisville on Sept. 23, 2020, after a grand jury ruled it would not charge authorities in the death of Taylor.

Johnson admitted to shooting a firearm at Police Maj. Aubrey Gregory and Officer Robinson Desroches.

Gregory was wounded in the hip, and Desroches was struck in the abdomen, but both survived, the report noted.

At least four other civilians and 27 officers were hit in the incident, the commonwealth’s attorney said, according to the report.
