The governor of Nevada tested positive for COVID-19.
Gov. Steve Sisolak said he was exhibiting no symptoms but received a routine swab test, which returned a positive result. Further testing for the governor is being examined.
“I’m a little tired, but I’ve been tired since March, when we started fighting COVID,” Sisolak told reporters Friday. “I think this just puts a spotlight on the fact that you can take all the precautions that are possible, and you can still contract the virus. I don’t know how I got it, but we’re going to quarantine and get through it.”
Two other members of the governor’s staff have also tested positive for the virus. His wife, Kathy Sisolak, tested negative on Friday. It is unclear how the governor was exposed. He said he tested negative on Nov. 2 and Nov. 6.
Sisolak also told reporters that those he might have come in contact with are being notified by the Carson City Health and Human Services Department. He said he will be working from home for at least 10 days.
The state reported 1,857 coronavirus deaths on Friday, more than on any other single day throughout the course of the pandemic.
