House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., has turned the motorized scooter he is using during his recovery from being shot at a congressional baseball practice this summer into a competition.
Scalise challenged Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas, to race around the Capitol building’s famous rotunda in their motorized scooters on Wednesday.
Scalise was shot in the hip in June after a gunman opened fire on a group of Republicans during practice for the congressional baseball game. After months of surgeries and recovery, Scalise returned to Capitol Hill on September 28.
