Facebook cancels company events of more than 50 people through mid-2021

The CEO of Facebook has decided to cancel events of more than 50 people through June 2021.

Mark Zuckerberg announced the details on Thursday in a post to Facebook.

“We’re canceling any large physical events we had planned with 50 or more people through June 2021,” he wrote.

Zuckerberg cited concerns he had with the coronavirus and backed employees who are able to work remotely through at least May.

“We know that most people can’t work from home as easily as many of our employees can,” Zuckerberg said. “We also know that when society does eventually start reopening, it will have to open slowly in staggered waves to make sure that the people who are returning to work can do so safely and that we minimize the possibility of future outbreaks.”

Zuckerberg said he hopes the measures can help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Facebook said last month it was planning to give a $1,000 bonus to help every employee during the pandemic.
