A group of gun control advocates, including some Parkland, Fla. students, took their frustrations to the National Rifle Association’s headquarters in Fairfax, Va. on Saturday.
The “National March on the NRA” was hosted by the same group that hosted the “March For Our Lives” protests nationwide in March. In attendance were survivors of the deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

“People call us snowflakes. What happens when all the snowflakes vote? That’s called an avalanche,” David Hogg, one of the most outspoken gun control Parkland students, tweeted with a video from Saturday’s protest.

The protest also served as a memorial for one of the February school shooting’s victims, Joaquin Oliver, also known as “Guac” to his classmates, who would have turned 18 on Saturday. Some of the students shared birthday wishes for him and a link to an online fundraising effort in his honor.
Happy birthday Guac ? Keep shining #GuacLives #ChangeTheRef

Joaquin Oliver, an inspiration to all of us, would have turned 18 tomorrow.
In his honor, we are raising money for his foundation to keep his memory alive.
We need to raise $6000 more to reach the goal! Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated. https://t.co/dNMvtfdwkb

The “March For Our Lives” movement started after the Parkland shooting claimed 17 lives, including 14 students. The massacre sparked a national dialogue on gun control laws. The National March on the NRA was joined by marches and other protests planned in 20 cities across the country Saturday.
