Companies owned by President Trump have received nearly $500,000 from his 2020 re-election campaign.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal citing Federal Election Commission filings, more than 6 percent of the $6.3 million in campaign funds spent in the first three months of 2017, has gone directly to Trump-owned restaurants, hotels and golf clubs.
This specifically includes $274,013 toward rent at Trump Tower, another $58,685 toward lodging at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., and $13,828 toward renting facilities and catering costs at Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
According to FEC filings, more than $42 million has been raised for Trump’s campaign efforts and the Republican National Committee since January, the Washington Post reported Friday.
Trump’s campaign spent more than $14 million on Trump-branded companies and family-owned businesses during the 2016 election — leading toward a wave of criticism and calls of ethics violations.
