AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Women in the Rio Grande Valley who have been forced to drive more than 200 miles to get a legal abortion will again have access to a McAllen facility, which is reopening by the end of the week, the clinic owner said Wednesday.
It would mark the first tangible effect of a federal judge’s ruling last week that blocked key portions of Texas’ sweeping anti-abortion law that was passed last year. Questions are now also being raised whether that ruling had broader ramifications than first thought.
