Gun rights group posts Mark Meadows’ cellphone number online: Report

A gun rights group posted North Carolina Republican Rep. Mark Meadows’ cellphone number online as part of its effort to urge lawmakers to oppose the $1.3 trillion omnibus, according to a report.

The National Association for Gun Rights posted Meadows’ cellphone number on Facebook ahead of Thursday’s vote on the spending bill, the Hill reported. The gun rights group opposed the omnibus because it included the Fix NICS provision, which is designed to boost states’ reporting to the National Instant Criminal Background Check system.

Conservative lawmakers wanted the Fix NICS proposal linked to a measure allowing firearms owners with concealed carry permits to carry across state lines. The House Freedom Caucus, of which Meadows is chair, opposed the omnibus in part because it omitted reciprocity for those with concealed carry permits.

“Judgement day is here for ‘pro-gun’ politicians Will they stand with gun owners or with Feinstein?” the group wrote on its Facebook. “The following Congressmen promised to vote against any bill containing FIX-NICS if it didn’t have Reciprocity with it. Were they lying or telling the truth? We’ll know following TODAY’s vote. Call ALL of them and urge them to OPPOSE the spending bill that contains Feinstein-backed ‘FIX NICS’.”

The Hill reported that Meadows stopped answering his phone and text messages after the posting.

The message now lists Meadows’ office number, as well as those of more than three dozen Republicans.
