White House previews Biden’s midterm pitch on ‘choice’ between Democrats and GOP

President Joe Biden will start making the case for Democrats during his first midterm campaign event after his summer vacation.

Part of that case is differentiating his party from Republicans, according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, before he speaks at a fundraiser and rally in nearby Montgomery County, Maryland, Thursday evening.

A YEAR AFTER BIDEN’S BIG SPENDING BILL PASSED HOUSE, DEMOCRATS SETTLE FOR LESS

Biden will amplify Democrats’ work “lowering healthcare costs and energy costs” as they have “taken on special interests,” she told reporters during her briefing Thursday afternoon.

Jean-Pierre described Republicans’ approach to policies, including abortion access and social welfare programs, such as Social Security and Medicare, as “extreme MAGA.”

“He always says, ‘Don’t compare me to the Almighty. Compare me to the alternative,'” she said.

The White House often declines to comment on election-related matters because Jean-Pierre is subject to Hatch Act restrictions.

With Maryland considered a Democratic stronghold, Jean-Pierre defended Biden from criticism his presence will not help Senate candidates competing in battleground states such as Ohio and Pennsylvania.

“We’re going to go out there and make sure that the American people” are aware of Democrats’ list of “historic pieces of legislation,” she said.
