President Trump continued to adamantly deny the recent rape accusation against him by advice columnist E. Jean Carroll.
She’s “totally lying,” Trump maintained in an exclusive interview with the Hill, disputing Carroll’s claim that he raped her in the dressing room of a New York department store in the mid-1990s.
“I’ll say it with great respect: No. 1, she’s not my type. No. 2, it never happened. It never happened, OK?” he asserted to interviewers Saagar Enjeti and Jordan Fabian.
“Totally lying. I don’t know anything about her,” the president continued. “I know nothing about this woman. I know nothing about her. She is — it’s just a terrible thing that people can make statements like that.”
Carroll has been appearing on television in recent days to discuss her allegation, which features in her new book What Do We Need Men For?: A Modest Proposal, which will be released July 2.
In a blistering statement issued Friday, the president said, “Regarding the ‘story’ by E. Jean Carroll, claiming she once encountered me at Bergdorf Goodman 23 years ago. I’ve never met this person in my life. She is trying to sell a new book — that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section.”
