While spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Nantucket, Massachusetts, President Joe Biden was indecisive when asked which Northeastern chowder he preferred.
“Do you prefer Manhattan or New England clam chowder?” a man asked Biden while he visited TownPool, a store that sells Nantucket-themed clothing.

“I don’t like either,” Biden answered.
“Oh my God,” the interviewer exclaimed. “Alright, good answer.”
Biden then changed his answer, saying he actually prefers New England clam chowder.
New England clam chowder and Manhattan clam chowder have shared a “divisive” rivalry, according to MyRecipes.com.
“New England clam chowder is thick, creamy, and milky-white. Manhattan clam chowder is tomatoey, brothy, and clear. Both types share a clean, briny, and slightly-sweet flavor thanks to the clams — but that’s about it,” the site says of the two styles of chowders.

“The truth is, clam chowder is intensely divisive, and people typically either fall into one camp or the other,” MyRecipes.com claims.
