Facebook and Twitter executives have been holding secret meetings with conservative and Republican leaders in a bid to address complaints that they are censoring right-leaning voices on social media.
The tech executives have participated in secret dinners with elite conservative media personnel, and held private meetings with the Republican National Committee, according to the Washington Post.
Last week, a Twitter executive had a private dinner in Washington D.C. attended by top Trump communications adviser Mercedes Schlapp, Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist, conservative TV host Greta Van Susteren, and Fox News commentator Guy Benson, according to people who were at the dinner.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has also hosted dinner in New York City with local conservative media leaders, has consulted with Fox News host Sean Hannity, and has made two trips to Capitol Hill in the past month, which included sitting down with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
While conservatives have complained about bias, both Twitter and Facebook’s chief executive officers in the past month have admitted that the tech world is dominated by liberals.
“It’s no secret that we are largely left leaning, and we all have biases,” Dorsey said in a note to staff June 7. “That includes me, our board, and our company.”
