Donald Trump claimed that he now has more than 1,000 delegates in the Republican primary even though the Associated Press’ tracker, used by the Washington Examiner, only estimates he has 994.
“We are now at 1001 delegates. We will win on the first ballot and are not wasting time and effort on other ballots because system is rigged!” Trump tweeted on Friday afternoon.

In order to win the Republican presidential nomination on the first ballot at the convention in July, a candidate must win at least 1,237 delegates. Trump is the front-runner in the delegate chase, though most estimates have him below the number he is claiming.
Next Tuesday Trump, Ted Cruz and John Kasich will compete in the Indiana primary. Recent polls show the Manhattan businessman leading the state.
