Sen. John McCain’s daughter said her family now lives “with the anxiety about what comes next” following his brain cancer diagnosis.
Meghan McCain released a statement on Twitter saying, “the news of my father’s illness has affected every one of us in the McCain family.”
It is unclear when he will return to work in the Senate, the Arizona senator’s office said in a statement.

“Like any daughter I cannot and do not wish to be in a world without him,” she said. “I have faith that those days remain far away. Yet even in this moment, my fears for him are overwhelmed for one thing above all: gratitude for our years together and the years still to come.”
On Tuesday, Meghan McCain called for a Nevada GOP official’s resignation after an offensive tweet about her father.
