A U.S. Navy warship seized a shipment of Iranian weapons that officials say were being sent to Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The USS Normandy intercepted a small sailboat carrying a variety of munitions while conducting security operations in the region on Sunday, according to U.S. Central Command. The weapons and war accessories were bound from Iran to Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen, officials said.

Aboard the small vessel were 150 “Dehlavieh” anti-tank guided missiles, a type of missile designed by Iran based off of a Russian variant. Also recovered were three surface-to-air missiles, components for unmanned surface and aerial vessels, thermal imaging weapons scopes, and other advanced weapon components.
The shipment would be a direct violation of a United Nations Security Council Resolution forbidding the supply, sale, or transfer of weapons to the Houthis, an armed militia group that is bolstered by Iran in its fight against Saudi Arabia.
