Harvey Weinstein once had a “frightened” encounter with a small Chihuahua that chased him around a rape accuser’s apartment, according to testimony.
Elizabeth Entin told the story in court Tuesday. Entin lived in the same apartment as Weinstein accuser Mimi Haleyi. Entin said that in 2006, her Chihuahua named Peanut charged the former media mogul.
“She said Harvey Weinstein showed up at our apartment. … She said he just, you know, pushed his way in,” Entin said about a phone call she got from Haleyi following the incident. “Then we started kind of laughing about it because apparently my dog, this small Chihuahua, was chasing him around and he was kind of frightened about it. … He said, ‘What is this thing? Get it away from me.'”
The event happened at a point before Weinstein reportedly performed oral sex on Haleyi without her consent in 2006. On Tuesday, reporters asked him about the Chihuahua incident.
“Are you afraid of Chihuahuas?” a member of the media asked. “Do I look like I’m afraid of Chihuahuas?” Weinstein responded.
The former media giant is now facing dozens of accusations of sexual misconduct along with criminal charges in both New York and California. His trial in New York started earlier this month.
