Black lawmaker calls Trump ‘racist’ for referring to Omarosa as a ‘dog’

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., said President Trump is “racist,” among many other things, in response to his incendiary comments about fired White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman.

The White House has been in a war of words with Manigault Newman over claims she makes in her newly released book, Unhinged, as well as critical comments she’s made about the administration in television interviews in the past week.

From his Twitter account Tuesday, Trump referred to the former star of “The Apprentice” as a “crazed, crying lowlife,” and praised his chief of staff for “firing that dog.”

Wilson shot back Wednesday: “There are many names we can call you: Racist. Hater. Traitor. Bigot. Misogynist. Liar.”

Manigault Newman has alleged a tape exists of Trump using the N-word during the filming of NBC’s “The Apprentice.” She has wavered on whether she’s heard the tape herself, though the president denies ever using the racial slur.

Wilson, who is black, has been highly critical of the president in how he and his administration have responded to Manigault Newman’s claims.

“He has taken this country to it’s knees,” Wilson told CNN on Tuesday. “Mr. Trump is a white supremacist, he has surrounded himself with white supremacists, and everything that comes out of that White House is racist.”

She later clarified that not everyone who works in the White House is racist.
