Trump: I had a ‘defective mic’ during debate

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump faulted a “defective mic” for some issues during the first presidential debate Monday night, telling reporters that it was defective “within the room.”

Trump told reporters in the spin room following the debate that while moderator Lester Holt did a “fine” job throughout the night, his mic wasn’t working properly in the room. He also wondered if it was “on purpose.”

“Well, I felt he was fine,” Trump said referring to Holt. “And they also had — gave me a defective mic. Did you notice that my mic was defective within the room?”

“I wonder, was that on purpose? Was that on purpose? But I had a mic that wasn’t worked properly — working properly,” Trump said. “But overall, I thought it was great.”

He also told a reporter that his poll numbers for the night were “through the roof.”
