| Despite all of his personal demons, James Brown truly made an incredible artistic contribution to the world. Modern music would not have evolved the way it did without the “Godfather of Soul.”
For this ‘toon, I toyed with a few ideas playing off of Brown’s “Godfather …” and “Hardest Working Man …” monikers. When it came time to pick a course of action, using the image of St. Peter putting the cape on him seemed like a no-brainer to me. It seems respectful, playful and practical, all in one — and I didn’t have to write any words, which makes it all the more powerful, I think.
