A Pasadena woman sent several nearby schools into lockdown Thursday when she falsely told police that someone was abducted during a home invasion at her residence, Anne Arundel police said.

“The reporting person admitted it had been fabricated after we had some questions regarding the credibility of what was reported and inconsistencies in the story,” said Sgt. John Gilmer, a police spokesman.

“At this point, she is going to be evaluated, and we are looking into why this was done.”

Police were called about 10 a.m. to a house in the 7700 block of Woodlawn by a woman reporting a home invasion in which a man abducted another resident.

“I don?t know all the details of what she told police, but we know there was no home invasion and no abduction. It was not legitimate,” Gilmer said.

Police didnot release the woman?s name or whether any charges are going to be filed against her.

Several Pasadena schools were briefly placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, but students were never in any danger, said county schools spokesman Bob Mosier.

The lockdown was lifted at 10:30 a.m. and letters were sent home with students from Northeast High, George Fox Middle and High Point and Sunset elementary schools, he said.

Crime scene tape blocked off the quiet street Thursday for several hours, and disconcerted neighbors stood outside of their houses watching as detectives gathered in the front yard.

Russel Soesbee, 69, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, said he returned home to find his street blocked off and asked police what was going on.

He said police told him a woman had been abducted at gunpoint and taken away in a blue or black sport utility vehicle.

“I?ve been here more than 10 years, and we?ve never had anything like this in our neighborhood,” he said.

Neighbors said the residents of the house are renters who mostly keep to themselves.
