Vice President Mike Pence is losing his chief lawyer and domestic policy director in the coming weeks.
Pence’s chief of staff Nick Ayers announced during a staff meeting earlier this week that attorney Mark Paoletta and policy official Daris Meeks will be leaving their posts at the beginning of this year, CNN reported. Both men had advised Pence on matters related to the recently concluded voter fraud commission.
The changes come months after Pence’s former chief of staff Josh Pitcock left in June, and press secretary Marc Lotter departed in September.
Pence’s deputy counsel Matt Morgan will take over for Paoletta in the interim, but it is not clear who will permanently take over Meeks’ role.
Paoletta was described as “very involved” with Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation process last year, and has worked for Pence dating back to his days as a congressman, one source told CNN. Meeks also worked with Pence while he served as a congressman from Indiana.
