President Trump said Thursday the van attack in Barcelona, Spain, was a “terror attack” and that the U.S. stands ready to help.
“The United States condemns the terror attack in Barcelona, Spain, and will do whatever is necessary to help. Be tough & strong, we love you!” Trump tweeted Thursday afternoon.
Vice President Pence also responded to news of the attack and issued a statement from Panama, where he is currently visiting.

Spanish authorities confirmed 13 people are dead and dozens injured after a person operating a white van drove it onto the sidewalk and plowed into pedestrians in a tourist-heavy area.
Catalan police confirmed around 7 p.m. local time, “Terrorist attack confirmed. The terrorist attack protocol has been activated.”
