A stream in Hawaii offers more than just a refreshing drink after its water became alcoholic following a suspected spill from a storm pipe.
The boozy water was discovered after a hiker told officials about smelling alcohol while walking past the stream on the island of Oahu, according to a report.
The body of water sits under a freeway, and a spill from a runoff pipe is most likely the cause of the water’s contamination, authorities said.

The water emanated the smell of “a beer pub that hadn’t opened its doors for three or fours days,” an official for the Hawaii Department of Health said.
The exact alcohol content of the river is roughly 1.2%, the report stated.
The pipe suspected of causing the contamination is reportedly connected to the warehouse of Paradise Beverages, one of Hawaii’s most significant suppliers of adult beverages.

“Right now, we’ve had the Department of Transportation come in with their representatives, and we’re dealing with them, and we’ve been contacted by the Department of Health,” said Anthony Rowe, operations director for Paradise Beverages.
